One thing we have learned in dealing with our citizenry is there is a lot of misinformation out there about buying Greenwood property.  We hope this page will ease your concerns and encourage you to approach us directly with your questions.  We are here to help you, and in most cases, we think you'll be pleased with the result.

The most prevalent rumor we receive feedback on is that Greenwood is completely sold out.  Like most rumors, this is untrue - but has a basis in fact.  Greenwood has plenty of single, "traditional", side by side spaces that you are most familiar with.  We are also working with our Office of Legal Affairs in an effort to reclaim "abandoned lots" for families interested in purchasing traditional lots.  These lots are available ONLY to City of Orlando residents or to relatives by blood or marriage to someone already interred Greenwood.  The cost of these plots are $1,500 each.

Spanish Moss and graves at GreenwoodAt present, we are pleased to offer to the general public double-depth, or "lawn crypt", spaces - and we have plenty.  What began as a new approach to make the most of the little land we have remaining has turned into a popular, economic choice for hundreds of families, including those who reside outside the City limits of Orlando.  Included in the price of the land is a crypt, or vault, already in ground, manufactured to contain two caskets - one on top of the other.  The cost is $3,000 - by itself cheaper than the cost of two side by side spaces at most cemeteries - and the crypt is included, saving families additional costs for required burial containers.  Only flat markers are allowed, and only one marker per space, for which families make private arrangements.

We also offer cremation spaces to Orlando residents.  While we hope to expand in the near future, at present we can offer our citizens property, near a tree, which is suitable for cremation interment only.  This is a wonderful opportunity for families interested in cremation, as they not only obtain a piece of treed property, they also have an upright headstone, they can place two urns in that space, and the cost is a nominal $750.   These spaces will be found scattered throughout the cemetery (staff doesn't even know the locations yet!). Basically, you tell us the area you are interested in, and we will go to work studying plats to find if "your tree" is available.  If not, we'll keep working with your family to find a location you will be happy with.

And now, the best part - buying a piece of Greenwood is E-A-S-Y.  Call the office at (407) 246-2616 or 2615 and we'll set a time for you to come in, take a look, ask questions.  If you make a decision then (most families do), we'll fill out simple forms and you're on your way.  We don't take the money at the cemetery, so you'll have to go to City Hall (5 minutes away) for that part and then you're done.  If you are undecided, we will "hold" property for a short period of time with no money down.

If you are purchasing property "at need", you must pay in full.  If you are purchasing "pre-need", we have several options: pay in full; put 10% down and pay the balance within 60 days at 0% interest; or put 10% down and pay the balance in installment payments over 12 months at 12% simple interest through the City's financial offices - no banks or credit checks.  Cash, local checks, or credit cards are acceptable forms of payment.

Our goal is offering our citizens excellent service at a reasonable cost - please call on us if we can be of service to you.
